The second step in becoming a USAR Certified Observer is to read, understand, and remember the USAR Officiating Guidelines and USAR Rules. Matches that require observers are often fast-paced and intense, relying on observers to know where to stand, which infractions to look for, how to make the best calls, and more. It’s imperative for observers to know the USAR Officiating Guidelines and Rules before they step onto the field.

The third step in becoming a USAR Certified Observer is to pass our USAR Observer Certification Exam. The exam contains five sections with different sets of questions designed to test your understanding of the USAR Rules and USAR Officiating Guidelines. You must score above 70% in each section and above 80% overall to pass.

The final step is on us. Once you complete the exam, we'll review it to see how you scored and ensure you're registered as a USAR member. We'll follow up with an email detailing how you scored in each section and whether you passed or need to retake the exam. You can expect a response within one business week.
